Instructions:
Step 1: Find what you need
- Gather your supplies and materials.
Step 2: Fold and cut the flowers
- Cut 7 squares of paper to 3×3 inches. We used 4 different colours for our flowers.
- Place one of the papers with the point towards you. Fold in half, bringing the bottom point up to the top.
- Then fold in half from left to right, bringing the bottom left point over to meet the right.
- Then fold in half again, bringing the top left point down to the right.
- Cut the right side into a curved petal shape.
- Unfold the paper to reveal an 8 petaled flower!
- Cut one of the petals off, leaving 7 petals and a gap.
Step 3: Colour and shape the flowers
- Use a thick marker to colour a darker border on each of the petals.(First place your flower on another piece of scrap paper to protect your working surface.)
- Then use a fine tip marker to add decorative details to the center of the flower.
- Add a line of glue tape to one of the petals next to the gap.
- Create a 3D flower by folding the other petal (on the opposite side of the gap) over into the glue tape, aligning its edge with the fold line of the glued petal.
- Repeat with the other 6 pieces of paper, making 7 flowers total.
Step 4: Connect the flower
- Fold a flower in half and set it down with the petals facing away from you.Add glue tape to only the tip of both the right and left petals.
- Fold another flower in half (yellow, for us) and connect it into the glue on the right. Its left petals should line up on top of the right petals of the first flower (purple).
- Connect another folded flower (blue, for us) to the left petal, this time lining up its right petals. Now add a bit of glue tape to the tips of the top 3 petals (left, middle, and right).
- Connect another folded flower (pink) to the top petals. This flower will be aligned the same as the first (purple) flower. Then add glue tape to middle left (top blue), top left (pink), top right (pink), and middle right (top yellow) petals.
- Connect another flower (blue) into the glue on the right. The left petal of this flower should line up with the top right petal.
- Connect another flower (yellow) to the glue tape on the left. The right petal of this flower should line up with the top left.Add glue to the top petals again (left, middle, and right).
- Fold the last flower in half and connect it, lining up all the petals. This flower should be in the same position as the very first (purple) and the center (pink) flowers.
Step 5: Attach the flowers to a card
- Cut a piece of cardstock in half, cross-wise. Then fold this half into a card.
- Add a line of glue tape along the center top (purple) petal. You should cover the whole petal this time, not just the tip.
- Flip the flower bundle over and connect it to the card so you see a “V” with the gap in the flower. The glued petal should face towards the bottom of the card, with the opposite petals against the fold of the card.
- Now add glue tape to the bottom center (purple) petal.
- Fold the top of the card down onto the flowers. Press firmly to connect the glued petal to the top of the card.
- Now open the card to see the 3D flower bundle pop-up into a beautiful bouquet!
Step 6: Add leaves to the card (optional)
- Cut 4 leaf shapes from green cardstock. Use a darker shade of green marker to add vein details to the leaves.
- Add glue tape to one point of a leaf and stick it in place behind one of the flowers.
- Repeat, attaching the other 3 leaves.
- Your pop-up flower card is complete!
