STEPS

STEP 1 Colored Flour Paste

1Combine flour, salt and water.

In a bowl or large container, measure out 1 cup all-purpose flour, 1 cup fine salt and 1 cup water.

STEP 2 Colored Flour Paste

2Mix until free of lumps.

Mix the ingredients together until they form a paste that is smooth and free of lumps.

You can adjust the consistency of the paste. If you find it too runny, add some more flour or if it’s too thick, add a bit more water.

STEP 3 Colored Flour Paste

3Divide the mixture.

Divide the mixture into the desired number of color batches.

STEP 4 Colored Flour Paste

4Add some paint.

Add a small dollop of poster paint or tempera paint to each batch.

STEP 5 Colored Flour Paste

5Mix well.

Mix well until the paste is evenly-colored. Add more paint if you want to achieve a more intense hue.

STEP 6 Colored Flour Paste

6Make more colored paste.

Make several colors of paste.

STEP 7 Colored Flour Paste

7Place in squeeze bottles.

Load the colored paste into squeeze bottles (e.g. empty glue bottles).

Use a funnel if the bottle’s opening is small. If you mixed your colored paste in paper cups like I did, you can simply squeeze the cup’s mouth to create a spout.

STEP 8 Colored Flour Paste

8Use the colored paste.

Use the colored paste as you would use puffy paint. Check out some crafts you can make in the section below.
